I’m now back from my holidays in Brazil. A great time was had, although I appear inadvertently to have gained half a stone in weight. We did all the tourist stuff (Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, Maracana stadium, museums, boats, waterfalls etc.) and I learned lots of stuff, such as:
- Brazilians like to eat a lot of cheese, especially when encased in some form of pastry and deep fried
- Derivatives of guarana make for a tasty beverage
- Cake for breakfast is acceptable
- The cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain closes on Christmas Eve
- It rains a lot in Rio, even during the summer, but swimming in the sea while it’s drizzling is still quite pleasant
- Travelling by bus is more comfortable than travelling by plane
- Some people think it’s acceptable to move your aeroplane seat into the “upright” position while you are in the toilet (especially if they are fat)
- Air France are crap but KLM are quite good, even though they are the same company
I’ve taken 564 photographs and I’m not putting any of them on Flickr.

My five favouritest words ever: “Cake for breakfast is acceptable.”
No Flickr? Your nodes disappoint me Dave.
Brazilians also eat a lot of meat. You will have a gained a quarter stone of meat and a quarter stone of cheese, guaranteed.
