Peter Kay is coming back with a spoof on TV talent shows with the extraordinary title of Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar on Ice. Enough to fill-up the EPG listing on its own although, of course, no further explanation is really needed.
The first time I really came across Peter Kay was in That Peter Kay Thing, where he did a series of one-off half-hour docu-soaps, including an especially brilliant pilot called The Services, in which he starred as the service station manager, Pearl Harbour (“One word, Terry: job club!”). I’m not sure why but I find Kay exceptionally funny when he’s playing middle aged women. In BGTPFAPANJCSSOI, as it will no doubt come to be known, he’s playing a talent show contestant called Geraldine McQueen, so I’m hoping amusement ensues.
