ABC presenter and former Michael Jackson/Princess Di botherer Martin Bashir is said to “bitterly regret” a jokey confession that he was turned on by “Asian babes” in a speech to Asian-American journalists last month. Channel Four News featured some video of the incident tonight, which should be viewable on their site but which I can’t find anywhere else. He said:
I’m happy to be in the midst of so many Asian babes. In fact, I’m happy that the podium covers me from the waist down.
Which is surely enough to put one off one’s petits fours. Perhaps he thought it could be laughed off. Unsurprisingly - considering the audience was a load of journalists - the speech got reported and the video released. These Asian babes have no sense of humour, do they Martin?
