Football news you may have missed

To Liverpool, where today’s Daily Post seems to have missed a football story of some minor European importance.
EVERTON youngsters are celebrating a fine tournament success after winning the under-13s girls Premier League Schools Tournament.
Represented by a six-a-side Broughton Hall High School from West Derby, Everton overcame Liverpool 2-0 in the final at the Madjeski Stadium.
More than 5,000 youngsters and 600 schools took part and it was a day to remember for the girls as they went through a full Premier League match day experience including using the first team dressing rooms, while the game was officiated by top flight referees Steve Bennett and Keith Stroud.
Everton’s women and girls coach Andy Spence hailed the girls’ achievement, saying: “The team have done fantastically well playing some great football and ran out deserved winners.”
In fairness, they did mention the Champion’s League final in passing. It was part of a story about a £1.5m cash bonus for Everton thanks to the fine print in Wayne Rooney’s transfer deal to Man United in 2004. But really, who cares about that when there’s a crucial local derby to write about?
